Spring Break in Montreal (and its surroundings)

Are you running out of ideas of things to do during spring break? Communauto is here to inspire you! These events happening during the break are easily accessible from Montreal in a Communauto or Auto-mobile. The activities will please younger and older; the fearless and the colder. Outside the city:

Zoo Ecomuseum

The only outdoor zoo on the island of Montreal is also open in winter! You’ll find more than 115 kinds of animals like the black bear, the lynx and the snowy owl. The Zoo Ecomuseum’s main mission is to promote education and scientific research, but most importantly the well-being of the animals. An outing that the whole family will enjoy!

Snowshoeing in parc national du Mont-Orford

At only 128 km of Montreal you will find the wonderful snowshoeing trails of Mont-Orford. There’s a special event on Friday, March 8th: the trails will be torch-lit, and a chocolate fondue will welcome you when you get back! From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Oasis Surf

If you want to escape the cold and travel to some warmer weather for a couple of hours, head to Quartier DIX30 in Brossard. Oasis Surf is an indoor surf centre where you can try out the sport for the first time. There’s also a restaurant/bar on site. Open every day.

In the city:

Montreal International Children’s Film Festival (FIFEM)

From March 2nd to 10th, you can discover the best of youth cinema. This 22nd edition is taking place in three Montreal cinemas: Beaubien, du Parc and du Musée.

The Jeux d’hiver at the Olympic Park

Twelve life-size games like Volley pong and human Babyfoot are guaranteed to bring out the child in you. There’s also a Chalet space with a café bistro if you need to refuel after your big win. Sections 200 and 300 of the Esplanade Financière Sun Life, every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during spring break (March 4th to 8th).
